After completing my first job shadow at Impact bank I was given information about the senior project to my shadowee. This is who gave me many activities going on in the community that needed helpers, this lead to the Kanokla Easter Egg Hunt. After I was told about the hunt I went to Kim Riley asking if she was still in need of some helpers. I think you could say she was relieved when I volunteered. The Kanokla Easter Egg Hunt was for all age groups up to 5th grade. Kids came from all over to hunt hundreds of eggs scattered around Kanokla Networks grounds. My job was to help the easter bunny in scattering the eggs before the big hunts. While the kids hunted the eggs I took many pictures for Kanokla as well. Before and after the hunt I walked with the easter bunny to get as many pictures of the easter bunny and the kids as possible. For the night hunt I set out eggs took pictures and also handed out flashlights. Helping with the Kanokla Easter Egg Hunt I learned that giving back to the community is an important thing for a business. The thing I enjoyed most was the smiles on the kids faces when they got a simple piece of chocolate in an egg. It is amazing how something so little can mean so much to a person and that is what really impacted me. After helping with Kanokla I see now that as a local business it is good to keep doing things for your town and to stay local.

Coach Blosser came to many seniors and juniors asking for help with the elementary play day. Me needing more hours I was thrilled to help. I knew previously about this activity coming up from my mom, the fourth grade teacher. I already knew the events that the kids would be doing. Students helping were dismissed from school in the morning for the play day. Our job was to work the events, as the classes made their way around to the different events. I was paired with a classmate at high jump. I found it fitting to help with this event because this is the event that I do, so I could help the littles learn some techniques as they were jumping. After the field events we were all timers at the finish line. When the runners finished we would find the placed runner that matched us and record their times. From helping with the elementary play day I learned that it takes many people to successfully hold a field day for the kids. I really enjoyed helping the kids learn something new and have fun with it. After helping with play day I realized many things, one thing being that I enjoy helping students and encouraging them to do their best. I can see myself in the future doing many more activities being a coach with children.

I first had the idea of helping with the 10U softball team when an alumni gave me some ideas for easy hours, so I went ahead and asked Mr.Blosser if he needed more coaches for any softball teams. He said he did and sent me on my way to 10U practice where I coached with that same alumni. My title helping with the softball team was Assistant Coach. This title came with a lot of commitment and a lot of work with the kids and our busy summer schedules. I did things from tossing balls in soft toss to coaching base runners. I assisted the head coach in games and in practice, but also did a lot for the team to prepare them for games. Helping with the Caldwell Rec. softball team I learned that things we do in high school can stay with us forever. When I was assigned this age group and had the opportunity to coach with the same alumni, that told me she did this when she was in high school helping for her senior project, I realized that we aren't just assigned hours to help our community we are here to help guide us to our future. I really enjoyed helping the children have fun and win. The only struggle helping with this activity was that between work and other events with the kids, it was tough finding a time right for everyone. After helping with this activity I know for sure I want to continue helping the kids, maybe not in softball, but in future activities that they partake in.

I spend a lot of my hours, in and out of school, in Bluejay Outlet, that is how I had the opportunity to help with the Scott Rice golf tournament. Coach Sawyer came to me and asked me to help press t-shirts at the event. He knew I would be capable of helping him with this because it is what we do everyday in Bluejay Outlet. I was asked to help make t-shirts for the 10th annual Scott Rice golf Tournament. With this my job was to design, prepare, order, and press the shirts. This was all done during the school day except pressing was on site at the wellington golf course. Helping coach Sawyer with this event went beyond Bluejay Outlet, it wasn’t just a business following through with an order. This event turned into volunteering your time to do something nice for others not just doing it for business needs, that is what I liked most about this event. Helping with this event I thought it would help me finish up my senior project, but all said and done it showed me more of how important it is to help others and come together as a community. It is safe to say that I learned proper ways of being a small town businessman and I will take that with be wherever I go.

For the blood drive I helped in gathering supplies for the post donation snack. I also helped in preparation of sandwiches to then give to the people donating their blood. After the blood drive I helped pick up tables, chairs and swept the ground. I learned that it is important to not just donate blood but to donate your time to help others. I enjoyed being able to help those who donated being a person that is unable to donate. I like that I am still able to donate my time even though I can’t donate my blood. This impacted my life and my future because I got to help others.

For this group activity our class walked to the gazebo, this is where we did all of our group hours. We started with picking weeds, picking up trash, and sweeping the sidewalk. After this was complete a small group of us went to the corners of the road to spread mulch around the plants. I learned that helping to clean your community is always a great thing to do, especially being a town a part of the Chisholm Trail. I enjoyed taking time to make our town look new and fresh. I however did not enjoy the cold weather that came along with this activity. Even though picking weeds and laying mulch seems like a little thing, it showed me that little things can make a big difference. After this activity was done I realized that the preparation of our town is something that needs to be done very often.

For this group activity I demonstrated and participated in line tag with the elementary kids. Most of them already played this game in P.E but for the kids who hadn’t found it more fun to just play regular tag. We were asked to help out and show the kids some fun before returning back to school. One thing that I learned from helping with wellness night was that I wish I could go back to the simplicity of being a kid. I really enjoyed encouraging and playing a simple game of tag with the kids. After helping with wellness night, I learned that I have an act for entertaining kids. Knowing this I know that my future will include many children.
